I want to start by saying how much I loved this book! I am a fan of metal music and mythology, and Death Metal has both in spades! The characters are well developed and their reactions both make sense and keep with the characters' personalities. Squiers has a wonderful voice and I was hooked from the first chapter. Death Metal has a fresh take on mythology, all of which is explained, not leaving the reader with distracting questions. There is action throughout the book and no dull moments in between. I was very easily drawn into this novel. With compelling characters and a unique conflict, the Bloodtones have a lot that they must deal with and overcome, providing a captivating story.

My favorite character was Bekka, and I loved her evolving relationship with Brian. The closeness of the band in general was very real. During rough times, they all found out how much they meant to one another and worked together to do what needed to be done. The dialogue flowed easily and was entertaining as well as giving insight to each character's mind. A favorite part of mine was the song lyrics that were included. I felt like I could hear the sound of the band and see little Bekka onstage screaming her heart out. I could continue raving about this awesome book, but it would be hard without giving spoilers. I will say, if you enjoy paranormal fiction, you will enjoy this book. With all the paranormal books flooding the market, it was a refreshing change to see the same creatures retold in a new way. I very much enjoyed this book and will be avidly waiting for future work from Nathan Squiers!

Loved this awesome read! It has twists that only Nathan Squiers could bring to the table. This is the first book I have read that revolves around the paranormal and heavy metal-double win for me. The Bloodtones are far from your normal heavy metal band and find themselves with more issues than trying to score their next gig. I loved each one of the five band members, they are each unique and bring their own twist to the story and the band. Not only do they struggle with trying to become famous, they have the weight of keeping the band together and alive. Danger seems to lurk around their every move and seems to be far from their number on fan. This book definitely rocks the paranormal guidelines, which made it much more interesting than the same ole paranormal stuff out there. I recommend this book for every paranormal lover. Be warned you will want to throw your point and pinky fingers in the air and bang your head!
Death Metal is different from the PNR/UF books I've read so far, a good different though!

The setting is 5 young adults who found each other through their love for metal and formed a band. The 2 humans, sorcerer, vampire and werewolf are much more than just bandmembers, but real friends who would do anything for each other. And when Bekka, the female singer of the band, is in danger because something is possessing her those friendships is what's going to keep Bekka alive.

Throughout the story the Bloodtones play several gigs and the way Nathan Squiers describes it, I felt like I was there, somewhere in the mosh pit, absorbing the atmosphere of the gig, feeling the music go through me... Nathan's writing is light and uncomplicated and that makes this book a pleasant read.

I really hope there will be a follow up of this book because I would like to see the Bloodtones in another adventure. I also wanna see how Bekka and Brian's relationship evolves. The romance is only a small part in this story, but really sweet.
I would like to find out more about David (werewolf) and Will's (vampire) background. And I would like to know more about the whole council and their laws.
What could make me happier than a book about heavy metal and supernatural creatures, being as I'm a huge fan of both. I was very excited to read this book and set to reading it quickly. Only to be disappointed. Although, disappointed is too polite a term. Squires' writing style is juvenile - from the grammar mistakes on every other page to the lack-luster story line. Even so, I held out chapter after chapter in hope that the story would pick up. But my hope was wasted. Never has a book actually made me angry at how terrible it was. This author should NEVER have been allowed to publish his work. Even for a fantasy story it doesn't make sense! DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!!!! The other reviews must have been paid off or done friends of the author. Either way, they're complete lies.
I loved this book and so glad that I was able to read it! I loved the fact that it was centered around a heavy metal band and paranormal mixed! Thank you, Nathan Squiers!!!!
Scooped this up and it is a VERY good read from a solid up and coming new author. I found him through the book Immortal Night Vampire Series The Anthology Of Vampire Books Volume 1 and after reading the first part I wanted to get more. He keeps the story moving and the characters are extremely real and readable. I'm impressed. You don't typically get this level of quality from a "new kid" but you can tell he spent the time, effort and money to have this come out flawless. Very good stuff. I'll be looking for more from him.
I loved this book! It was so nice to read something a little different than the uber-romantic paranormal fare that I usually read. The characters in this book are very well developed, and likable. The story progressed smoothly. The ending was perfect too. Like the other reviewer, I was really impressed. I'm anxiously awaiting the second installment. Great job!
